Ecology

The maps shown below reflect the situation in 2002 (when the satellite images were done) and so do not show the destruction and ecological changes caused by the 26 Dec 2004 earthquake and tsunami. Nevertheless, the maps remain vvaluable even though the flatter and smaller islands especially have suffered dredfull damage. It is to be hoped that the IRRS will make new sets of maps to show just what the extent of the ecological and other damage has been.
